Best Looking Switch Ever

This special edition pushed me over to the side of finally buying one, but the added fact that the Switch Pro could be just around the corner in a year or so, makes it even more of a debatable purchase on whether it’s worth it or not. Makes it even hard when you already own a Switch as well

Good points panda! I started went back to review the transfer process from one Switch to another, to fully understand the ins and outs of it. One thing I’m finding is that having a second Switch is pretty much pointless, especially when your user profile data gets erased from the original Switch. I don’t want to get rid of my old one but once I move my account over it’ll just be an expensive paper weight. Contemplating giving it to my neighbors son as a birthday gift but idk. I’ve been on a Gen 1 Switch (HAC-001) since 2019. It’s held up well but the battery and screen is lacking. Ever since the release of the OLED I could never justify purchasing one, especially with this sentiment being furthered by the fact that it didn’t include the most important feature everyone was hoping for: better graphics and processing.

I’m disappointed since I could have ordered it from Amazon and have it already, but I ordered from Walmart and am waiting on it to ship. At least it’s only a couple days, but still. I’m assuming they made a lot because they know LoZ is a big draw and wanted enough for demand, but who knows. I’m assuming some people aren’t getting it because they don’t feel it’s worth it when they already have a console, or they’re expecting something new. Personally I think if they were close to something new that they’d have held off on releasing the game until the new system was out, but who knows. I assume we have a couple more years at least.

My theory: when the OLED system came out it was really hard to get it; I’m thinking they over produced it and the best way to sell them was to “create” a special edition. I haven’t seen the details of it, but it seems they only slapped some “engravings” on the doc and on the stand of the tablet. As for the controllers, producing joycons is super cheap for Nintendo, although, I’m not gonna lie, thats the only thing that I want, but Nintendo was not interested on selling them separately, probably because they want to sell those OLED systems

@jeremy31226, I think there’s quite a bit contributing to the availability of these. I’ve been going back and forth on it because I pretty much only play my Switch docked, and buying this would be just for the collector in me because specs are almost the same. However, I imagine this might be the last major release before a Switch 2 announcement so I’m not feeling any FOMO for the Zelda OLED.

Which makes sense since that would be around when the game was set to release before being delayed. So one can assume the consoles have been ready since around that time. This also would explain why it hasn’t gone out of stock since it’s announcement a month ago. Makes me wonder about the collectors edition and controller. Maybe they started production on them much later than the console. Also, I have still yet to find an answer as to why they released the console before the game release date, but the previously mentioned details may have something to do with it. My initial guess was for customer convenience, tho I find that highly unlikely. Mainly for getting the console setup before the game comes out, so it’s ready to play.

I find it odd that the console was so easy to get. I picked up mine from Best Buy today when the store opened and there was only me and another person there to pick up the console. I came about 30 mins before the store opened just in case there was a line but this was not the case. It made me wonder, are people just not buying the console or is it just that they made an over abundance of stock available? One detail that may answer this is due to the fact that these consoles have been ready since June 2022. I haven’t opened my console yet to check this myself, but BeatEmUps on YouTube shared in his TOTK OLED unboxing video (at the end) that he discovered that the last firmware update was from June 2022.

The fact that people are putting these switches up for double the price when their available everywhere is beyond me

Picked mine up from Best Buy today. Also, this limited edition console felt a lot easier to place a pre-order than any of the previous special edition consoles

Anyone get theirs from Walmart? I got nine from their but it tells me it'll be delivered on the 29th and so far I haven't gotten any charges or shipping info. Is that normal?
